Students lay on ‘Day at The Seaside’ for local Community Group

A group of twelve Painsley Sixth Form students recently arranged and hosted a special day for invited visitors to the College.   The students used their skills and facilities to provide an enriching and entertaining “day at the seaside” for the members of Equalbase, a local not-for-profit Community Interest Group for people with disabilities.

In conjunction with Miss Chloe Hickey, Head of Drama at Painsley, the students prepared art, music and drama activities for the visiting group to enjoy.   The ‘day at the seaside’ included games, making seaside pictures and sand modelling as well as ice-cream and singing.  The activities culminated in the Equalbase students performing their own production of Cinderella, as a way of thanking the Sixth Formers.

Painsley Sixth Form student, Courtney Clews (17), an aspiring Music Producer, said that she really enjoyed the day. She talked about how much she appreciated the experience, explaining that “it’s a really good feeling knowing you helped others to have a good time.”

“This experience proved to be beneficial for everyone involved, and is one that we all hope to repeat and build upon in the future.” commented Miss Chloe Hickey.

Equalbase works in the community of Cheadle, Staffordshire Moorlands. All profits are used to develop programmes and activities which can be accessed by its members in joining the community together.
