Best ever GCSE results for BWH!

Blessed William Howard Catholic High School, Stafford is extremely pleased to report its best ever examination results at GCSE.

Mr Brown, Principal, commented, “Students at Blessed William Howard have risen to the many challenges they have faced through two incredibly tough years, making their achievements this year so well deserved and special. I would like to congratulate the students on their fantastic achievements and resilience. I would also like to thank the staff for their true dedication and commitment, which have enabled students to achieve their true potential. Our students should be very proud of their GCSE results which reflect the fact that Blessed William Howard is now amongst the top performing schools.”

Some of the top performers include:

Conor Donnelly achieved 9 grade 9s, a grade 8 and a Distinction*

Gabriel Davis achieved 7 grade 9s, 2 grade 8s and a grade 7 and a Distinction*

Isla McEwen achieved 10 GCSEs of grade 9 to 7,  (5 of which were at the highest grade 9) together with a Distinction*

 Ruby Bishop achieved 10 GCSE grades all grades 9 to 7. In addition, Ruby secured a Distinction*.

BWH would also like to congratulate Tom Wildman, for the special achievement of making the most progress. He achieved a whopping 10 GCSEs  – 7 grades 9-7 and the remaining 3 at grade 5 or above. Well done, Tom!

  • Across the year 2022, we have seen a significant improvement in the number of students achieving their target grades
  • 83% achieved grade 4 or above in English
  • 75% achieved grade 4 or above in Mathematics
  • Over 210 grades awarded were at 8/9/Distinction/Distinction*
  • One in four grades awarded in 2022 were grades 9 to 7
  • 42% of students achieved a fantastic distinction* or distinction in their vocational qualifications with a 98% pass rate
  • Over three quarters of grades awarded were a standard pass (grade 4 and above)

It is difficult to pick out individual subjects, but results are especially favourable in Mathematics, English, Science (Biology, Chemistry and Physics), Computer Science, History, Art, Food and Music.

We wish all our Year 11 students the very best of luck in the future and look forward to welcoming many of them back into the sixth form.
