Great results for A level students at Blessed William Howard
Blessed William Howard is pleased to celebrate the achievements of its A level students. The school reports a significant increase in the percentage of students securing A*-B grades, as well as an overall increase in the average point score for all students. The proportion of students awarded grades A*-E in academic subjects has also increased and over 95% of students who applied for university have secured their places studying the subjects of choice.
Star performances include:
David Booy who gained 3As, 1B (and an A* for his Extended Project Qualification) and has secured a place at Southampton University to study Aeronautics and Astronautics.
Kai Bowden who was awarded 2As, 1B (and an A* Extended Project Qualification) and is progressing to study Dentistry at Cardiff University.
Jacob Callaghan who gained 4A*s and is going to Durham University to study Mathematics.
Huda Daghem who achieved 3A*s and 1B and has secured her place at Oxford University to study Philosophy, Politics and Economics.
Mr Karl Brown, Principal, stated, “Students, this year, have faced many unprecedented challenges and a great deal of uncertainty, but have shown superb resilience and maturity. Students have worked very hard across the last two years and have been focused on achieving their long term goals.
We are proud of all of our students and their fantastic achievements. We will continue to offer whatever support is needed to help them to make their next step. Well done, Year 13!”
Mrs Louise McKie, Senior Assistant Principal, commented, “As a school that places pastoral support at the heart of its education provision, Blessed William Howard staff felt it was important to open for results day, allowing students to collect their results as any other year, but with stringent safety precautions in place to ensure only small groups entered at a time and social distancing was maintained. These students have already missed out on the usual rites of passage taken for granted in normal circumstances. We felt it was very important to open so that they could collect their results in person, see their friends and teachers and receive face to face support and recognition. As a school, we will continue to provide support to all of these students well into the new academic year. Blessed William Howard was proud to be able to provide remote learning from the very beginning of lock down, doing our very best to support our students and we know our current school leavers will go onto make a massive contribution to society.”
The school will be holding a virtual open evening in September for parents who are interested in applying for a place for their child in 2021.
